Support Our Babies This Holiday Season!
2019 has been busier than ever for Sound Start Babies! We continue our mission to support the families of Babies with hearing loss during their critical early years of development. This year we were able to help 70 families through in-home visits, the full-day nursery program, family support and education.
Did you know that among our participants 50% struggle with multiple disabilities, 59% live in multilingual homes, and 50% come from low income households? Our program provides critical, multi-disciplinary support to ensure these Babies’ future success and quality of life.
Sound Start Babies’ success is due in large part to the generosity of supporters like you. YOU have enabled us to make positive change in the lives of deaf and hard of hearing Babies through our award-winning program. We can’t express enough how thankful we are for your help in continuing to help our Babies live limitless lives!
Today, it is our hope that you’ll renew your support of the Sound Start Babies Foundation’s critical mission. Private donations are essential to Sound Start Babies because the most critical elements of our program are not covered by the state of New Jersey.
Our ask for your support comes at a critical time – once again, we have a waiting list of Babies with hearing loss wanting to attend our nursery! The Foundation’s goal is for ALL families of Babies with hearing loss to have access to our program, regardless of their ability to pay. Your generosity ensures that Babies in need get the Sound Start they deserve!

PS – We need volunteers for our Board of Trustees and 2020 Benefit Committee. The Benefit Committee is a commitment only until May. Can you help us? Email email@example.com.
Holiday Giving Done Tax-Efficiently!
Consider giving stock donations in lieu of cash:
-Donating stock directly to a charity such as the Sound Start Babies Foundation is one of the most tax-efficient ways to give. -By donating appreciated stock you are actually giving significantly more than if you sold the stock and then made a cash donation. The reason is simple: avoiding capital gains taxes.
Qualified Charitable Distributions for IRA owners over 70 ½:
For anyone over 70 ½ who has a tax-deferred retirement account and is charitably inclined, consider donating your 2019 required minimum distribution (RMD) to the Sound Start Babies Foundation using a qualified charitable distribution (QCD). A QCD is a direct transfer of funds from an IRA custodian, payable to a qualified charity. Amounts distributed as a QCD can be counted toward satisfying your RMD for the year, up to $100,000 in aggregate, and can also be excluded from your taxable income. This type of distribution can potentially help you lower your taxable income for the year while simultaneously donating to a great cause.
